Mesilat Yesharim, Chapter 19,
end of paragraph 7 of 29:
…for every pious person [chasid], it is necessary to permanently engrave in his heart that his objective must always be to cause satisfaction [korat ruach] to people, and to not cause them any suffering [tzaar]…

Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzato lived from 1707 CE to 1746 CE.
Mesilat Yesharim was written in year 1740 CE. His 42 books include Derech HaShem.
