I think Garnel confuses levels of abstraction in my mashal. It translates to requiring that no one can be sure anyone is outside their eilu va'eilu. The Bnei Braq resident can't say I'm beyond the red line, and I can't say that Conservative Judaism is beyond the red line.
The whole point of my argument is that since EVERYONE limits eilu va'eilu somewhere, someone is bound to be in the position of counting as valid a position that implies their own position is wrong.
