Seder Strategy - Getting There without Dragging

Every family has different goals for their seder. Some want to stay up late some want to eat early. Some want in depth discussion. Most focus on kids, but many have few kids in attendance.

Briefly here is my strategy.

  1. Keep the Seder moving.
  2. Have everyone take turns reading
  3. Liberally translate key passages
  4. Sing as much as possible. - Keeps people awake and adds energy.
  5. Limit in depth discussions to 1 or 2 key points per seder
  6. Yet still allow kids to ask a lot of questions.
  7. Ask a few difficult questions to ponder w/o necessarily resolving them
  8. We go fast through Hallel and Nishmas while reciting but singing whenver possible.
  9. Aim to get to 4th kos by about 12:30 am and sing the songs at the end as we start drifting off into sleep.
  10. "Rotate" singing echod mee yodei'a and chad gadya by going in a form of round
