Simplifying the Complex

Rashi and Rambam are perhaps the most Popular Rishonim in history.

Ever Wonder how that happened?

Perhaps Einstein can help us understand how -
"The definition of genius is taking the complex and making it simple."

"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex... It takes a touch of genius --- and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction."

~ Albert Einstein

SOme of it is also that Brisk tilted the scales of halachic anlysis in favor of the Rambam. Looking at the Arukh haShulchan, before people thought "lumdus" and "Brisker derekh" are synonymous, you find the Rosh as commonly quoted as the Ramam. And in Volozhin beqi'us wasn't gemara, Rashi, Tosafos but gemara, Rashi, Rosh. Then the Tur, the Beis Yoseif, the Shulchan Arukh and Rama. Those dominate the conversation. The Rambam is on the list, but not nearly as prominently.
