Seeing Policies Everywhere 8

Why do we use Kosher Dish Soap?

Dish Soap is not edible, it is nifsal mei'achilah, so why does it need to be made with Kosher Ingredients?

Is this a mere Humra b'alma or a serious Policy Matter that requires by Policy - not mei-iqqar hadin - to use only "kosher soap"?

Soap does not need a hechsher. Why it has one? I asked a fairly prominent posek this question once (about Pesach!), and he shrugged and answered "Why not?" (I don't remember his exact words, which were in Hebrew anyway, but "Why not?" is the gist of it.)

I know why Kashrut Agencies certify soap, it's good business

I'm not sure what benefit it is for the Kosher consumer. For the consumer that wants a "good housekeeping" extra set of "eyes" it makes a certain amount of sense. But as far as I can tell it is but a marginal improvement in quality control at best
