Some/Many people seem to think that -
When a Gadol commits a faux pas that either
The Gadol either must lose his status
Or
That we need to jump through hoops to make him right.
Rav Nachman of Breslov has an oft-quoted saying about a Tzaddik, which may equally apply to a Lamdan or Gadol too, namely: When a Tzaddik errs -
The Tzaddik Bleibs (remains) a Tzaddik [K'vodo munach]
And
The Error remains an Error.
The Tzaddik does not lose his status. The Error is not whitewashed, either.
I then went to seek help from a chaveir to see if this concept may be found in classic literature outside of Breslov. B"H he helped me identify about 3 more cases that fit this principle.
Those 3 case will follow soon BE"H as part of a short series.
Best Regards,
RRW
